It’s time to keep an eye out for LC State’s Winter Craft Fair! The event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the P1FCU Activity Center.
The Winter Craft Fair is a way to support those who are graduating and moving on into the next important step in their lives, and also supports local artists and businesses that showcase their products.
A few LC State clubs have decided to participate during the Winter Craft Fair: LC’s In-Stem Club, Soccer Club, Speech and Debate Club, and LCWR.
Shastine Huddleston, on behalf of the In- Stem club, shared that she is most excited to talk to others about the club, as she has never been to the Winter Craft Fair before or any other local craft fairs of any kind.
Huddleston explains that the In-Stem Club will be selling homemade cookies, and while the club does not sell these cookies year round, they occasionally sell baked goods for club promotion.
“My advice for people wanting to craft is to try it out and do not give up. It can be hard sometimes but it pays off in the end,” Huddleston said.
The LCSC Soccer Club reached out to The Pathfinder via Abby Woolery, who states that she is most excited about getting the club’s name out there.
This will be the club’s first Winter Craft Fair that they have participated in. Woolery states that the LCSC Soccer Club will be selling hot chocolate at the event, and that craft fairs are a great way to present and advertise something that you are proud of.
Taten Gorton, the president of the Speech and Debate Club, explained that he was most excited to see the other booths and meet more people from the community at the event.
He says that the club also has never had a booth until this year, and that at their booth, students can expect to see loads of baked goods, including sweet breads and muffins.
Gorton claims that those treats sell out quickly when they have the occasional bake sale to promote the club, so students should be sure to arrive early!
“We decided to do this on a whim,” Gorton said and added, “So if something looks fun, baking or crafting, give it a shot! The worst thing that can happen is you learn something new.”
Marcy Halpin, the Speech and Debate Club advisor, says that she would not describe herself as “excited,” but explained that the Winter Craft Fair is a great event for the community, and sometimes a way to find unique holiday presents for friends and family.
She shared that the Speech and Debate Club had a booth once many years ago where they tried to sell homemade Christmas cards, but unfortunately, they weren’t very successful. They have not been a part of this craft fair, or any other craft fair until this year.
Bryant Cano, the manager of the LCWR Club says that he will be making peppermint mocha bread, but he will not be the only one at the booth selling something.
The station assistant, Mikki Hartley, will also be making clay figures that represent the club.
